Drainage Update

The majority of the drainage tracks on hole 10 have now been re-turfed. 

The remaining tracks at the 10^th and on the 16^th fairway will be re-turfed in early March, when our next turf delivery is expected.

The area above on hole 10 will be our next and final drainage project of the winter. 

Sunshine on Murrayfield

Although today’s sunshine did not break any records, it was however quite a significant day in the courses greenkeeping calendar.

The 10^th green has experienced some cold, dark and gloomy conditions over the last four months, but today the green enjoyed some direct sunshine, its first since last November.

Safety Barrier - Hole 10

The installation of the safety barrier on the lower section of pathway on hole 10 has now been completed.

When the weather and ground conditions improve we intend to refurbish the surface of this lower section of pathway.

Installation of new phone line cable.

Over the last few days we have begun the installation of a new phone line cable into the Greenkeeping Facilities.

The new cable will connect into the underground junction box beside the 18^th tee gate and cross the 17^th fairway before its installation into the facility.

This new cable, when installed and connected, will replace the temporary supply from our old facilities.

Unfortunately, the old supply cable is prone to water ingression in a number of different areas and is now beyond economical repair.

Provided the weather doesn’t deteriorate over the next few days, we hope to have the excavations, backfilling and re-turfing completed before the weekend.

Safety Barrier - Hole 10

Today contractors began installing the last section of safety barrier on the pathway between the 9^th green and the approach to the 10^th hole.

To complete this final section, thirty-four meters of safety barrier is being erected on the lower section of the pathway below the 10^th tee.

Making good progress

For the next few days the 10^th hole will be closed for play, although, there will be access to the 11^th tee and the bottom side from the 9^th green.

These works are expected to be completed by Thursday of this week.
