Following a survey conducted by
Edinburgh City Council last summer, we were notified that we have a total of 42
Elm trees infected by Dutch elm disease.
Most of the infected trees are in
the vicinity of the Quarry practice ground and range from between 5 to 20mts in
height.
This week we started felling and
burning the timber from the diseased trees.
These measures are aimed not only
at controlling the spread of the disease and to protect neighbouring trees, but
equally importantly, at public safety.
